The Civil Engineering Department, Nirma University organized an industrial site visit for B.Tech students to enhance their practical understanding of modern construction technologies.
Site: Smith Structures (India) Pvt. Ltd., Kheda
Type of Work: Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) Manufacturing Plant
A total of 96 students, accompanied by 4 faculty members (Prof. Utsav Koshti, Dr Tejas Joshi, Dr. Sunil Raiyani, and Dr. vineet kothari), participated in the visit.
During the visit, students were exposed to:
Overview and applications of PEB structures
Manufacturing process of PEB sections
Quality control practices in the plant
Study of PEB drawings and introduction to Tekla software
Induction session on site safety practices
The visit provided valuable insights into industrial-scale fabrication processes and highlighted the growing importance of PEB systems in modern construction. The hands-on exposure helped students connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications.
