Nirma University, in association with the Institute of Technology and the Students’ Welfare Board, organised the Grand Walkathon – Walk 4 Fitness today at Sabarmati Riverfront, with around 1,500 participants taking part in the 5 km walk. The walkathon was flagged off by Dr Anup K Singh, Director General, and Shri G Ramachandran Nair, Executive Registar, along with Shri Ashish Desai, Director, Nirma Ltd. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the university community, including Directors and Heads of various Nirma Institutes and Departments, faculty members, staff, and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Himanshu soni, Director, School of Technology, highlighted that the walkathon reflects Nirma University’s commitment to fitness and well-being. He also extended his gratitude to the Sabarmati Riverfront authorities, the Police Department, and the Nirma Management for their support in making the event a success. The initiative aimed to promote a healthier lifestyle and emphasise the importance of physical activity. He further stated that Nirma University will continue to promote fitness within the community and contribute to a healthier society.
A special mention to the Chairman of the event, Dr Himanshu Soni, Director, School of Technology, as well as Faculty Coordinators, Prof Himanshu Patel, Prof Rutul Patel, Dr Bhavesh Parekh, Chief Coordinator, Student Welfare Board, and his team, along with everyone who contributed to the smooth execution of the walkathon.
