Department of Civil Engineering has hosted Fulbright specialist, Prof Daniel Abrams, Emeritus Professor of Structural Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA under Fulbright Specialist Program by USIEF, New Delhi during January 17, 2019 to February 8, 2019. Various academic activities were conducted at Civil Engineering Department by Fulbright Specialist Prof Daniel Abrams during his stay at the Civil Engineering Department. Prof Daniel Abrams had conducted a special course on ?Experimental Techniques in Earthquake Engineering? for the duration of Nine Hours for MTech Civil Engineering (CASAD) students as well as faculty members of the Civil Engineering Department. Prof Daniel had interacted with BTech (Civil Engineering), Semester ? IV and Semester-VI students and discussed about Professional requirements of an Engineer, Role of an Engineer and Career Options in Civil Engineering. One to one interaction with Research Scholar (PhD) enrolled with the Civil Engineering Department had also been carried out. Prof Daniel Abrams had delivered two Expert Sessions and one Laboratory Session during National Colloquium on ?Advancement in Seismic Design of Masonry Structures? held during January 30-31,2019. Prof Daniel has visited ?Heavy Structures Laboratory (HSL)? of Civil Engineering Department. He discussed about capabilities and further improvements in the existing experimental facilities with Prof Paresh Patel, Professor and Head and Prof Sharadkumar Purohit, Professor. A detailed discussion about procurement of Instrumentation and other assemblies to the HSL has been carried out for efficient utilization of the laboratory.
