Department of Civil Engineering has organised a National Colloquium on ?Advancements in Seismic Design of Masonry Structures? during 30 – 31 January 2019. Prof. Daniel Abrams, Emeritus Professor, Civil Engineering Department, University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, U.S.A, and Fulbright Specialist, USIEF, New Delhi had delivered expert lecture and a laboratory session during the Colloquium. Apart, Prof. K.S. Jagadish, Former Professor, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore & Eminent researcher in the field of Masonry Structure had also delivered an expert lecture in the colloquium. Prof Svetlana Brezev, Adjunct Professor, University of British Columbia, Canada & Visiting Professor, Civil Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar and Prof. Hemant Kaushik, Professor, IIT Guwahati had enlightened the participants by delivering exciting technical lectures. The colloquium was attended by scholars, faculty members, professionals and students with great enthusiasm. Ductile Design of Masonry Buildings, Design and Detailing of Confined Masonry, Containment Reinforcement for Earthquake Resistant Design, Flexibility and Displacement Capacity of Reinforced Brick Wall and Seismic Retrofit of Masonry Buildings, etc. were the major topics covered during this colloquium.
The colloquium was coordinated by Dr Sharad Purohit, Professor and Prof Utsav Koshti, Assistant Professor, from Department of Civil Engineering.
