Ministry of Road Transport and Highways observed “30th National Road Safety Week” from 4th – 10th February 2019. The theme of this year was, “Sadak Suraksha- Jeevan Raksha”. The ministry has asked various stakeholders to spread the awareness to make our roads safer.
In accordance to it, Department of Civil Engineering and Organisation of Civil Engineering Students, School of Engineering, in association with Students Welfare Board, Nirma University has organised ?ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAMME? on 8th February 2019 during 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
The programme was divided into three sessions. In one of the sessions expert Shri Sameer Raval, Executive Engineer, Roads & Building Department, Gujarat was invited to deliver lecture for spreading the road safety awareness among the budding engineers.
Posters, showcasing the traffic management and road safety were exhibited by the students of civil engineering in the second session.
In order to get the driving license students are required to undergo examination test in Regional Transport Office comprising of Written Test and Vehicle Driving Test. To check the awareness of the students regarding rules and regulations of traffic and transport, traffic signs and signals, online test was been conducted in the third session.
Approximately 300 students participated in the above said event along with the 24 Faculty Members of the Department. The winners of poster presentation and online test was given helmet as an award, so that the Road safety awareness can be propagated to huge mass.
The event was coordinated by Prof Tejas Joshi, Prof Hemang Dalwadi and Prof Hemanth Kamplimath from Department of Civil Engineering.
