The Civil Engineering Department, Nirma University, organized a technical site visit to Dharoi Dam on 25 September 2026, providing approximately 130 B.Tech students with valuable hands-on exposure to dam engineering and water-resource management.
The students were accompanied by Dr. Anant, Dr. Nitesh, Dr. Keval, Dr. Prachi, and Mr. Satyaprakash. During the visit, Mr.Gaurav Ninama, Executive Engineer, Dharoi Dam, provided an insightful overview of the dam, covering its history, present operations, and future development plans.
The students gained an understanding of the various technical components, functioning, and engineering aspects of the dam through detailed explanations by the dam engineers. The visit offered an excellent opportunity to connect classroom concepts with their practical applications in dam engineering, hydraulic infrastructure, and water-resource management.
Such experiential learning initiatives help students develop a deeper understanding of engineering systems and appreciate the practical challenges involved in planning, operation, and management of critical infrastructure.
